Hydrological Situation

On February 13, the country is experiencing water level fluctuations, mostly decreasing, with drops of up to 56 cm per day in some areas. In certain locations, an increase of up to 37 cm per day is observed.

A further decrease in water levels is expected.

Water temperatures:

  • In rivers: 0–6°C
  • In lakes: 0–3°C
  • In the Curonian Lagoon: 0°C
  • In the Baltic Sea: 1°C

Some rivers have nearshore ice and floating ice formations.

Most lakes are covered with ice. In the Curonian Lagoon, drifting ice is observed near Nida and Ventė (9 points on the scale).

IMPORTANT! Ice on lakes is considered strong enough to support a person when it is ≥7 cm thick. For a group of people, the ice must be at least 12 cm thick.
